Join an NGO internship in Romania promoting volunteering both on local and international levels. Get work experience in the fields of marketing, event management, social media and more. The objective is to increase awareness of volunteer opportunities in projects that support local communities and contribute to the development of sustainable tourism. Your active help will help to increase the reach of the organization which will in turn benefit both local communities and the volunteers that work to support them.
You will be assisting in the day-to-day activities of the NGO, meaning that your tasks may vary. You will work 3-5 hours per day Monday-Friday and your tasks may include:
In addition, you could help to support the local volunteers by organizing events and activities. Interns have organized film nights, Facebook events and English clubs at the project site.
When you arrive at the accommodation you will be shown around, have a short introduction and then be given time to settle in. The more detailed orientation will happen on Monday.
At 10 a.m., you will meet with the other volunteers and be able to ask any questions. You will have lunch at a restaurant before being welcomed by the volunteers already settled at the project. There is then a one to two hour tour around the city. Finally, you will be given time to unwind and enjoy your evening.
On Tuesday morning, you will be given the opportunity to participate in a Hungarian lesson.
After this introduction, you will begin working on the project. You will be instructed and supported by team members and experienced volunteers with all the various tasks you may be asked to perform.
While on your internship, there is a lot to see and discover in Transylvania, as well as in Romania as a whole.
Transylvania is famous for the legend of Count Dracula who supposedly lived in Bran Castle. Although this is just a myth, a visit to the castle is certainly worth the while! The area is home to mountains, medieval towns and castles, all of which are sure to captivate you.
Due to the preservation efforts in nature reserves and national parks, you are able to experience untouched nature and enjoy some peace and quiet.
There is plenty to do right around the project site as well. Popular activities include hiking, visiting a beer factory, paragliding, fishing, tennis and paintball, among many others.
This independent, non-profit organization has been working to bring together volunteers from all over the world to promote sustainable projects and support the development of volunteering. They aim to benefit local communities and increase awareness and access to volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers and interns are incredibly valued as the local team manages many projects and cannot sustain the important work they do without this additional support.

Both apartments have working kitchens, dining areas, fridges, washing machines, bathrooms, wifi and living rooms. Bed linen is provided but you must bring your own towels.
In addition, there is a small game hut that's used for volunteer activities, meetings, and dinners.
The project includes all meals during the week. At weekends, the volunteers are provided with everything they need to prepare breakfast and lunch, with dinner included. Twice a week, a grocery list is drawn up together, and the person in charge of the volunteers does the shopping.
During your internship, explore the richness of Transylvania and Romania. Discover the famous Bran Castle and its history linked to Dracula. You can also enjoy the unspoilt nature and the varied activities around the project site, such as hiking, brewery visits, paragliding, fishing, tennis and paintball.
For a stay of less than 90 days, a visa is not required for most European citizens.
