Program description

Six of the seven species of sea turtles are classified as threatened or endangered. The green sea turtle, in particular, is classified as endangered. This volunteer program in Thailand gives you the opportunity to contribute to green sea turtle conservation, as well as other ongoing conservation initiatives, while living and working with our staff and other participants from around the world.

In this project, which is viable for a gap year project, you will focus on various areas of land preservation, turtle protection and environmental awareness. At the center, the turtles are raised until they reach a size where they are less exposed to the risk of predation when they are released.

Typical activities during the project include:

– Help clean the ponds and turtles.

– Treat any injuries to the turtles.

– Participate in data collection – Depending on the season, you may help release hundreds of turtle hatchlings into the ocean.

– Beach cleaning.

Host organization

Our partner organisation sits on the United Nations International Commission on Sustainable Tourism.

All their initiatives and volunteer projects are led by experts in collaboration with the local population and national governments.

As a non-profit organisation, our conservation project is completely transparent. The volunteer contribution is used to cover the planning of projects on the reserve (reconnaissance, team recruitment and logistical support), direct field costs (transportation, lodging, staff meals) and finally to support the project itself. Without the physical and financial help of the volunteers, this project would not have been possible.
