Claire’s project, at the heart of a feline sanctuary

Claire went to South Africa to make a positive impact on the region & the environment, through an internship in a nature reserve...

I discovered a culture different from my own and learned a lot about myself. This project allowed me to surpass myself and do things I didn't think I was capable of. I learned a lot about animals and nature, but I also learned a lot on a human level, so it was a very enriching experience.

My fondest memories...

I would say that my best memories of this project are :

  • Close-up moments with cheetahs
  • Elephant walks
  • Nightly feeding of giraffes, zebras and wildebeest

If I had to rate my experience out of 5...

- Pre-departure information: 4.5

- Registration process: 5

- Supervision / project coordinators: 4.5

- Volunteer schedule: 4.5

- Food and lodging: 4

Would I recommend this project?

Yes, absolutely! It was an incredible experience that I hope everyone will have one day.

I'd also recommend the RealStep team, who are always available and ready to listen, which is reassuring, especially when you're going off on your own to the other side of the world.
