Laura's Adventure: Immersion in Marine Conservation in South Africa

WHAT MISSIONS WERE ENTRUSTED TO US ON SITE?

On site, my duties included helping to feed the penguins at the sanctuary. I also helped organize tourist activities on the boats, including shark-watching cage dives and whale-watching trips. This included preparing hot drinks, handing out towels after showers, handing out life jackets, distributing seasickness bags, as well as remaining available to tourists to meet their needs.

WHAT THIS INTERNSHIP HAS GIVEN ME

This internship has given me both personal and professional benefits.

On a personal level, having the chance to see the penguins up close and to help them at the sanctuary was a truly enriching experience. Discovering an activity as little-known as shark cage diving was also very interesting.

From a professional point of view, I acquired some knowledge about penguins, which proved to be very interesting. What's more, I was able to develop skills in managing tourists, which represents valuable experience in the field of management.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS PROJECT?

Yes, I highly recommend this project.

Firstly, for the opportunity to contribute to the penguin sanctuary, which is a rewarding and enriching experience.

Then for the chance to take part in shark cage diving. Every time there was an extra space, we had the opportunity to join in this exciting activity and observe some superb marine animals.

What's more, the on-site support team was incredibly friendly and relaxed, which went a long way to making the experience enjoyable.
