Clara shares her experience of her marine conservation internship in Tenerife

I went to Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, on a cetacean conservation mission!

WHAT MISSIONS WERE ENTRUSTED TO US ON SITE?

On site, I was given three main missions:

  • Photographing and collecting data on cetacean species encountered during boat trips,
  • Beach cleaning,
  • And data collection during surveillance of boat exits at the mouth of the harbor.

WHAT THIS INTERNSHIP HAS GIVEN ME :

On a personal level, this project has enabled me to feel useful within society and in the protection of endangered species, but also to meet people from all over the world and visit an area rich in biodiversity.

Both academically and professionally, I was able to acquire new knowledge in the field of marine biology and conservation (a field in which I'd like to work in the future), which may make the difference in my future job applications.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS PROJECT?

I 100% recommend this mission for those who want to do something for our planet while getting up close and personal with marine mammals.

...AND REAL STEP?

Real Step helped me in my internship search and took into account all my requests. Their strong point is their proximity to us, which makes it easier and more fluid to complete the application process, which is often quite long and complex with other organizations. Learn more about the program!
