The activities were different every day, but they mainly involved taking part in environmental protection projects and integrating into and helping the local community.
The missions undertaken responded to specific needs on the island, such as the restoration of pollinator habitats in abandoned rice fields. Many of the activities were carried out with local people, such as beach clean-ups with the children of Sado.
As an environment student, this project has enabled me to discover future prospects in professions linked to environmental protection and climate change. Taking part in a project like this also gives us an insight into current issues and the difficulties and scope of building this type of program.
This mission gives you the opportunity to get to know a fairly remote area that abounds in nature and culture. The project is organized in such a way that, in a short space of time, you can talk to the locals, take part in festivals, discover magnificent landscapes and much more. The leaders are attentive and share their knowledge as best they can, making the experience unforgettable.
From start to finish, the RealStep team was attentive
and answered my questions to the best of their ability. I contacted RealStep rather late in the day to take part in a project at the last minute, which was carefully organized without any problems. Whether it was transport, accommodation, etc., the information was always well communicated.
