Empowerment of women in Sri Lanka

Empowerment of women in Sri Lanka
Posted on 29 November 2024

Summary

The place of women in the world is appealing to more and more people who are reacting to gender inequality. Thanks to this interest, we have been able to collaborate with this project since 2018. This project has been able to receive a total of 90 volunteers and, unfortunately, only 15 during 2021 due to Covid19.

Prior to the Covid 19 crisis, 85% of the women who participated in our project obtained a higher diploma and certification. As education is a pillar of women's emancipation, we focus on teaching practical skills in English. The main beneficiaries are women from rural areas. We enable them to improve their employment prospects, boost their self-confidence and enhance their community relations.

This movement, like all movements, calls on motivated women to react and break free from the conditions shaped by a patriarchal society. It is important to understand that this project does not seek to demolish the values of these women, but only to enable them to realize themselves as autonomous and independent human beings.
