Inspiring story: Construction trainee Nathan shares his two-month immersion in Nepal

WHAT WERE YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ON SITE?

I was responsible for designing schools in remote areas of Nepal, where there was a crucial need for educational infrastructure due to the lack of facilities and the seismic risks associated with earthquakes. I was also involved in helping to raise funds to support the construction and running of these schools.

WHAT I GAINED FROM THIS INTERNSHIP

This internship gave me total immersion in Nepal, where I spent 2.5 months as the only foreigner.

I was warmly welcomed into a wonderful family, which enabled me to learn the local language and immerse myself in Nepalese culture.

The experience also taught me the importance of modesty and gave me a better understanding of how societies function in other countries.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS PROJECT?

Yes, I highly recommend this project. The team is great, with a mix of professional and family spirit that makes the experience rewarding in every way.

On-site facilities awere excellent for all volunteers, and the meals were of quality. What's more, life in Nepal is affordable, which is perfect for smaller budgets. The beauty of Nepal is undeniable, and this immersion also offers the opportunity to discover the country through enriching tours.
