Jeanaëlle – Immersion in a farm in Ireland

Jeanaëlle – Immersion in a farm in Ireland
Posted on 29 November 2024

Jeanaëlle spent 3 months in Ireland, working in a charity shop in a small village near Cork. She tells us about her immersion.

What was your experience like?

  1. This experience has given me a lot both professionally and personally. I was able to improve my English by immersing myself in another culture, with local people. It also enabled me to become much more independent, autonomous and responsible, something I was also looking for when I went abroad, away from my loved ones.
  2. Having weekends off (as the shop was closed), I was able to enjoy and travel to my heart's content all over Ireland and discover the breathtaking, sublime landscapes of this magnificent country. That's what I really enjoyed. To live, to undertake, to be free, quite simply.

What were your best memories?

I loved the fact that I had so many little travel adventures that remain engraved in my memory, and I loved the Irish people. Everyone was so warm, so thoughtful, so pleasant, and I met so many beautiful people!

I also really enjoyed the diversity of students from different countries in my host family! It was intriguing and very interesting! My family and the lady who ran the shop were incredibly lovely and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality!

My opinion of the programs in Ireland

- Pre-departure information: 5/5

- Registration process: 5/5

- Supervision / project coordinators: 5/5, very attentive!

- Volunteer schedule: 5/5

- Food and accommodation: 5/5, incredible and adorable family! Super attentive, very warm and understanding. Being vegetarian, my diet was never a problem for my host. It was really great, and really really good!!!

Would you recommend this course to other people?

I would highly recommend this project in Ireland if the opportunity arose. It really lets you learn English and experience it. Going on an immersion course allows you to grow, mature and become responsible. It's an incredible experience that anyone could have. What's more, it gives you a different view of another culture, another life. And to be able to practice a trade while helping people!

I would simply recommend Realstep. Everything is very organized, we are taken care of right from the start, it goes very quickly and the staff are very understanding. My project was last minute but everything went well. Once we were there, we were very well looked after and communication was perfect.

Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Jeanaëlle
